Thi Special Issue of Securt Dialogue provides a comprehensive, critical discussion of security and insecurity in cities around the world. It is often said that we are enterin the 'urban century', and the Special Issue brings together scholars from around the globe o focus on urban insecurity in Egypt, Central America, Nigeria and Brazil. It also includes theoretical reflections on culture and urban insecurity, the aesthetics of urban planning and defences agains terrorism, as well as critical infrastructure. Authors include Oliver Jütersonke, Robert Mugga, Dennis Rodgers, Martin Coward, W.J. Dorman, Michael J. Shapiro, Olawale Ismail, Jon Coaffe, Paul O'Hare, Marian Hawkesworth, and Paul Amir. The introduction is co-authroed by Don Hubert, Michael C. Williams and myself.
